Slash: Music is more exciting as I get older

Slash finds making music "more exciting" now he’s "older".

The 50-year-old rocker – who has been confirmed to be reuniting with his Guns N’ Roses bandmates Axl Rose and Duff McKagan to headline the Coachella Festival – thinks he’s a better rock star now he’s in his fifties because he’s not preoccupied chasing around drug dealers and getting smashed in bars.

In an interview with filmmaker Sam Dunn, he said: "Not being burned out from the night before helps. Since I’m not spending all my time at the pub or chasing dealers, I spend all my time writing and working. I do all kinds of s**t, and I think it’s become more exciting as I get older. The passion and desire to do it is really strong. I find it to be tons of fun."

Elsewhere, the ‘Sweet Child O’ Mine’ guitarist’s Myles Kennedy & The Conspirator bandmate, Todd Kerns has revealed he knew about the Guns N’ Roses reunion for a "long time" and feels "nothing short of incredible" to be "close" to the historical reformation, which comes 23 years after he last played with the group.

In a statement posted on the band’s website, Todd said: "By now you will have been privy to news that is hardly unexpected yet wholly exciting nonetheless. God knows it never seemed to be that carefully kept a secret.

"For a long time now, we, CONSPIRATORS, have been personally made aware that the regrouping of one of the most important brotherhoods in music history was underway.

"That thing that everyone had wished for but never thought possible was quietly (and not so quietly) cooking under our very noses. To be in this close of proximity to a history of rock and roll moment occurring has been nothing short of incredible (sic)."
