Prince William: Fatherhood made me more emotional

Prince William finds the smallest things make him "well up" now he’s a father.

The 33-year-old royal has two children with wife Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, and admits his priorities in life have drastically changed since becoming a parent.

He explained: "I never used to get too wound up or worried about things. Now the smallest little things … you well up a little more.

"You get affected by the sort of things that happen around the world, or whatever, a lot more. You realise how precious life is, and it puts it all in perspective."

William is father to two-year-old Prince George and Princess Charlotte, seven months.

The future King of England opened up about his family life during a sit down interview with Declan Donnelly and Ant McPartlin, to coincide with the 40th anniversary of the Prince’s Trust.

William is no stranger to loss in his life, with his mother Princess Diana losing her life in a car crash when he was just 15, and admits the tragic accident made him all the more aware of just how precious life is.

He added: "The idea of not being around to see your children grow up and stuff like that. I remember my mother and father taking us to charities and organisations and showing us what goes on. And I think seeing such a broad spectrum of life is really important from a young age to give you a bit of perspective.

"You don’t just live in a palace, it’s very important you get out and you see what goes on in the real world."
