Quentin Tarantino: Mad Max: Fury Road is best film of 2015

Quentin Tarantino’s favourite film of 2015 is ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’.

The ‘Hateful Eight’ filmmaker found it hard to admit the movie was the best as he wasn’t keen on the idea of Tom Hardy replacing Mel Gibson as the titular character Mad Max Rockatansky at first, but he thinks the change was "pretty good" and even watched the film three times.

Asked for his top movie of the year, he told Cinemablend: "It would have to be the ‘Mad Max’ movie, ‘Fury Road’….I got a print of Mad Max on 35mm and I watched it in my house, and I had it all weekend and I ended up watching it three different times.

"And I resisted seeing it for a while because I was like, ‘Mad Max without Mel Gibson? Forget that!’ In a world where Mel Gibson exists, how can you cast Tom Hardy? So, I even wanted to get all defiant about it and #NotMyMax.

"Then I saw the movie and, ‘OK, it’s terrific,’ and he’s pretty good in it, I have to admit, he’s pretty good."

Meanwhile, Tarantino, 52, received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Monday (21.12.15).

The legendary film director – whose credits include ‘Pulp Fiction’, ‘Reservoir Dogs’ and ‘Django Unchained’ – was joined by some of the cast of his latest movie ‘The Hateful Eight’, including his long-time friend and collaborator Samuel L. Jackson, for the ceremony in Hollywood, California.
