Daisy Ridley treated BB-8 like a child

Daisy Ridley was lulled into treating BB-8 like a child.

The 23-year-old actress – who appears in the role of Rey in ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ – has revealed she started to treat the droid like a real-life person while they were working on the new movie.

She admitted: "I had a chat with BB-8, and I remember [director J.J. Abrams] saying, ‘He’s not a child’ and obviously the impulse because he’s small and cute is to infantilize.

"The impulse is to baby talk, but he’s not a child. He’s a droid with a mission."

In fact, Daisy said the droid developed so many human-like characteristics that she started to feel like she was performing alongside a regular actor.

She told TIME: "After they created him and puppeted him everyday and they gave him so much life that it didn’t really feel any different to acting with a person.

"He’s there moving around, he’s making noises, he’s responding to what I’m saying. It really is just like having a conversation."

Meanwhile, Daisy admitted recently that she cried when she watched ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ for the first time.

She said: "I came out [after the movie] and was like, ‘Yeah, I’m cool. And then in the car I was like crying the whole way, and then the whole way home – a 10-hour journey. It’s the first time I’ve ever really seen myself do something."
