Chris Martin feels like Noel Gallagher’s ‘little brother’

Coldplay star Chris Martin feels like Noel Gallagher’s "little brother" who likes "ballet".

The 38-year-old frontman is close pals with the former Oasis guitarist and admits he thinks of the ‘Wonderwall’ hitmaker – who has a famously tempestuous relationship with his actual younger brother Liam Gallagher – as a sibling

Speaking of his "love" for the 48-year-old rocker – who features on song ‘Up&Up’ on Coldplay’s new album ‘A Head Full of Dreams’ – Chris said: "I love Noel. I’m like his little brother who likes ballet. We’ve been blessed over the years to have mentors within music."

As well as Noel, Chris credits Jay Z and U2 frontman Bono to be with being big influences on him.

He added: "We’ve been blessed over the years to have mentors in music. I would count Noel, Jay Z and Bono."

As well as Noel, Beyoncé – Jay Z’s wife – and Chris’ ex-spouse also feature on ‘A Head Full of Dreams’.

But the ‘Sky Full of Stars’ hitmaker – who is joined in Coldplay with Guy Berryman, Jonny Buckland and Will Champion – was particularly thrilled he got to work with one of his other musical idols, Merry Clayton, on the record.

The soul singer – who famously duetted with Sir Mick Jagger on the Rolling Stones hit ‘Gimme Shelter’ – added vocals for ‘Up&Up’ and ‘Adventure of A Lifetime’ on the new record, just weeks after being in a car crash that resulted in both her legs needing to be amputated at the knee.

He told The Sun newspaper: "It had been a dream to work with her so we just called her up.

"She came in a wheelchair and did her thing and then said, ‘I just lost my legs.’ We didn’t know. She’d just come out of hospital the week before but was so full of joy, gratitude, love and life."
