Pink Floyd release surprise EP

Pink Floyd have released a limited edition EP titled ‘1965 – Their First Recordings’.

The record includes six songs that were written and recorded prior to them becoming an internationally recognised band and before their seminal 1967 album ‘The Piper at the Gates of Dawn’.

The R&B-infused recordings feature four Syd Barrett originals including ‘Remember Me’, ‘Lucy Leave’, ‘Double O Bo’ and ‘Butterfly’, as well as Waters’ track ‘Walk With Me Sydney’, and only 1000 copies were pressed to go on sale on Monday (30.11.15).

In a statement, the band said: "To mark 50 years since the tracks were recorded, Pink Floyd have released a limited edition set of two seven-inch singles containing the band’s first recordings."

Pink Floyd’s original line-up included the late Syd and Richard Wright, Roger Waters and Nick Mason – along with then-guitarist Rado Klose – can be heard on the seven-inch record.

Meanwhile, David Gilmour – who joined the band after Syd’s departure in 1968 – has announced four more concerts at The Royal Albert Hall in London in September 2016 following his critically acclaimed five sell-out shows at the same venue this autumn.

Tickets for the shows – which take place on September 25th, 28th, 29th and 30th – go on sale from 10am on Friday (04.12.15).
