MTV has announced the top 10 acts, as voted by fans, who have have battled for the chance to claim the accolade which was given to London-based hip-hop-duo Krept & Konan last year.

The hot UK talent selected include soul singer Jack, Rudimental collaborator Anne-Marie and ‘Easy Love’ hitmaker Sigala will go head-to-head in a public vote from December 1 and the winner will be crowned in February 2016.

On hearing the news Jack Garratt said: "Thank you MTV for putting me in the Brand New for 2016 list. It’s such a great honour! I watched MTV religiously as a kid, so the 14 year old in me is very excited right now."

And Anne-Marie – who provided vocals for Rudimental’s ‘Rumour Mill’ – was "shocked" when she found out and joked that she’d bribed them with her karate skills.

She said: "It feels amazing to be on the MTV Brand New list. I was shocked when I got told, a good shocked. I’m proper happy about it. I think I got nominated in the MTV Brand New Top 10 because I’m 3x world time karate champion and I’d probably just beat everyone up if they didn’t put me in it. They were all scared!"

Last year’s winners Krept & Konan have since signed a record deal with Virgin EMI, reached No.2 on the album chart with ‘The Long Way Home’ which was made with Ed Sheeran, Emeli Sande and Jeremih.

The MTV Brand New list has showcased some of the biggest breakthrough acts over the last couple of years including James Bay, Years and Years, The Vamps, George Ezra, Sam Smith and Ella Eyre.
