Busted don’t have record deal

Busted don’t have a record deal.

The pop trio announced their reunion earlier this week with Charlie Simpson re-joining his old bandmates James Bourne and Matt Willis, and although they’re planning to record new music they haven’t yet been signed.

Asked if they’ve secured a deal, Charlie confessed: "That’s still all up in the air – we haven’t really thought that far ahead.

"The main focus is getting the songs recorded."

The ‘Year 3000’ hitmakers – who will tour the UK next year – were signed to Island Records during their original run from 2000 to 2005, during which they released an eponymous debut in 2002 and ‘A Present For Everyone’ in 2003.

However, this time around they’re considering going it alone instead of getting involved with a major company.

Matt said: "So far we do not have a record deal, but we don’t know whether we’re going to sign one or not. We’ve just been focussed on the tour."

Charlie added to Digitalspy.co.uk: "We might do it independently, or we might not."

Singer Charlie, 30, previously revealed he’d been persuaded to get back together with the band after James played him some new material.

He explained: "James came round to mine April of this year and said, ‘I want to play you these two songs to see what you think of them’. He played them to me and I was like, ‘Dude that is f***ing awesome’.

"He basically said, ‘What do you think of us going to the studio for a few days and hanging out as the three of us being creative and see what happens?’

"He had a friend called Eric who owned a studio in Philadelphia and so we got on a plane and went there and we spent all week in the studio."
