Julian Rhind Tutt: The public wouldn’t accept a ginger Bond


Julian Rhind Tutt doesn’t think people would ever accept a ginger James Bond.

The ‘Notting Hill’ actor admitted the stereotype associated with 007, who is the epitome of cool, wouldn’t allow him or anyone else with red hair to be considered for the role.

Speaking exclusively to BANG Showbiz, he said: "Due to the terrible prejudice and racism in which we live these days, unfortunately they will never have a ginger James Bond, so unfortunately that role will elude me."

However, Julian said that although he may never get the chance to play the Secret Service Agent, he would enjoy the opportunity to appear as a Bond villain, saying he would like to base the character around Bond’s arch-enemy Blofeld.

He confessed: "I could be one of the strange mutant super villains."

Julian is narrating the audiobook of Ian Fleming’s ‘The Man with the Golden Typewriter’, which includes the private, unpublished letters of the novelist, including those received from and written to critics, as well as his wife.
