Prince Harry presented Webb Ellis trophy to New Zealand

Britain’s Prince Harry presented the Webb Ellis trophy to the New Zealand national rugby union team over the weekend.

The 31-year-old royal dished out the gold trophy to the team – nicknamed the All Blacks – on Saturday evening (31.10.15) after they thrashed Australia in the Rugby World Cup final.

The flame-haired hunk handed the prize over to the All Blacks’ captain Richie McCaw and shook his hand, before they threw their arms around each other and grinned.

The handsome prince – who is honorary president of England Rugby 2015 and vice patron of the Rugby Football Union (RFU) – watched the game unfold from the stands at Twickenham Stadium in London with his older brother William, 33, and their grandfather Prince Philip, 94.

Despite England being knocked out of the tournament in the pool stage, Prince Harry previously spoke of his pride at having his home country host this year’s Rugby World Cup.

Harry said last month: "England may no longer be represented on the pitch, but as a nation we are incredibly proud to be hosting such a successful tournament."

Meanwhile, the tournament boosted Britain’s economy by an estimated £2.5 billion and has been branded the biggest and best in the Rugby World Cup’s 28-year history.

World Rugby chairman Bernard Lapasset said in a statement: "It will be remembered as the biggest tournament to date but I believe it will also be remembered as the best. Its success is a reflection of this country’s wonderful fans."
