Hailee Steinfeld loves her ‘edgy’ new single

Hailee Steinfeld loves the "edge" of her ambiguous new single.

The 18-year-old star admits that, as well as ‘Love Myself’s theme of empowerment, there are also suggestions the track is about masturbation, and she doesn’t mind how people interpret the lyrics.

She told Grazie magazine: "Oh believe me, [suggestions of masturbation] have been discussed. It’s been talked about.

"But listen, whatever the song might be about, and however anyone interprets it, that edge is what I love about it."

The ‘Pitch Perfect 2’ star is enjoying her new career direction, admitting that music is more personal than acting.

She explained: "With movies I’m used to telling someone else’s story. With music, I’m able to tell my own."

Hailee recently admitted she was feeling nervous about playing her music for friend Taylor Swift.

The teenage star – whose film credits include the 2010 hit ‘True Grit’ – said: "I’m nervous to play her anything. I’m nervous to show her any of my movies, but yeah, she’s very supportive.

"[Music] is always been something that I wanted to do. It’s always been a part of my plan and it’s always been a matter of when and now is when."
