All Blacks delayed by Prince William’s motorcade

The New Zealand rugby team’s bus was delayed by Prince William’s motorcade in Wales on Thursday (01.10.15).

The All Blacks had just finished training in Cardiff and were waiting to get on their bus when the royal’s car, flanked by police on motorbikes, passed by en route to the Fiji-Wales match at the Millennium Stadium.

According to the New Zealand Herald, the All Blacks’ team bus was ordered from the street so that Prince William’s entourage could get through.

However, the players were thrilled with their brush with royalty, filming the incident on their phones and waving at the future British King.

Halfback Aaron Smith said: "He gave us a wave – that’s pretty good."

Over the weekend, William and his brother Prince Harry cheered on opposing teams at the Rugby World Cup.

William and his wife Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, wore red for Wales as they all watched the game at Twickenham Stadium in London.

William is the vice patron of the Welsh Rugby Union and Harry is vice patron of England’s Rugby Union, as well as the honourary president of the Rugby World Cup 2015.

Wales won the game 28-25, leaving William and Catherine thrilled.

Speaking previously to the Welsh team, William said: "Unfortunately, I will be watching you with my brother, so I will need a Wales win more than ever."

William and Catherine spent the first year of married life together living in Anglesey in Wales where he worked as a search and rescue helicopter pilot.
