Countess of Wessex to visit Herefordshire

Britain’s Countess of Wessex is to visit Herefordshire next month.

The 50-year-old royal – the wife of Queen Elizabeth’s son Prince Edward – is set to travel up to the historic English county in the West Midlands on October 13 to visit the young disabled people at Sophie House in Hampton Bishop.

The centre, run by the Martha Trust Hereford, was set up in 1996 and aims to provide care to youngster with disabilities.

After a morning of meeting and greeting those staying at Sophie House, the Countess will call into The Haven, which is a centre set up for those diagnosed with breast cancer.

The blonde beauty – who is the the president of the Haven Guardians – will meet the incredible team of professionals who provide patients with money advice, support and care.

She will then head to Emelia’s Place, a Christian organisation to help those in need without discrimination, to meet the city’s wonderful volunteer street Pastors who care for people recovering from excess alcohol.

Before she makes her way home, Sophie will call into the Close House, which is a youth centre providing help to people aged between 13-24.

Meanwhile, the Countess admitted last year she knows how to handle royal duties better now because she’s observed the Queen, 89, and adopting her techniques.

She said: "It doesn’t matter how tired you are – carry on.In the early days, I used to rush around as quickly as I could, but when you observe the Queen, she does things in such a measured way, and I hope I’ve learnt to try not to bounce into the room, but do things in a slightly more elegant way."
