Britain’s Queen Elizabeth appears to have ruptured a blood vessel in her eye.
The 89-year-old monarch is believed to be suffering with a subconjunctival haemorrhage as she arrived at the show-jumping championships in Scotland on Monday (14.09.15) displaying an extremely bloodshot right eye.
Despite the condition, the Queen – who became the longest reigning monarch last week – appeared to be in high spirits as she stopped to chat to spectators at the event.
This isn’t the first time the Her Majesty has been plagued with the condition, which is usually painless and clears up within days, as she also battled it in 2006 and again in 2012.
A Buckingham Palace spokesperson told the Daily Express newspaper the Queen is "well" and there’s no need to worry.
The monarch, who was dressed in a houndstooth coat and a feathered white hat for the event, attended the FEI European Eventing Championship at Blair Castle in Perthshire and proudly presented winners with their medals.
Also in attendance was her husband Prince Philip.
