Queen Elizabeth II won’t celebrate record-breaking reign

Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II won’t "disrespect" her ancestor by celebrating her record breaking reign.

Her Majesty is determined to let the occasion pass without notice in the royal household when her time on the throne trumps that of Queen Victoria next month, who held the title for 63 years.

A senior aide said: "We are not aware of any private plans [to celebrate on September 9], the Queen made it clear she wanted no fuss."

Whilst a source added: "She would see that as very disrespectful to one of her ancestors."

The stoic monarch has ruled over twelve Prime Ministers – including Sir Winston Churchill – visited 173 commonwealth countries, given 56 televised Christmas messages and held the world record for most currencies featuring the same individual, during her reign.

What’s more, the Queen has no need for a passport, since every British passport is issued in her name.

Yet the 89-year-old royal holds her great-great-grandmother Queen Victoria – who oversaw Britain’s age of industrial expansion, economic progress and the empire – in high regard and won’t celebrate the milestone on the actual day.

Instead she will continue her duties on September 9 when she is set to open a new railway line in Scotland.
