Bake Off contestants fear seagull attack

‘Great British Bake Off’ contestants are worried about being attacked by killer seagulls.

The BBC show – which sees passionate amateur bakers complete against each other – will return to TV screens tonight (05.08.15) but contestant Mat Riley is worried about an avian invasion.

He told the Daily Star: "My main fear would be if a bird flew in through the window. I’m not a fan of birds."

As the show is filmed in a marquee in Berkshire with plenty of openings for birds to get through, he could have to face his fears.

Mat’s comments come after a number of recent attacks by seagulls on people have left them with injuries including 66-year-old Sue Atkinson who was left bleeding from a head wound after being dive-bombed by a gull in Cornwall.

Meanwhile, it was recently claimed that BBC Two are planning a professional version of ‘The Great British Bake Off’ which stars Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood.

A casting call on the website Chefs In Scotland has revealed the channel’s plans to have professional bakers go up against one another in a format similar to that of the hit show.

According to Digital Spy, it reads: "Love Productions – makers of ‘The Great British Bake Off’ – are launching a brand new TV series for BBC Two.

"We’ve brought the excitement of amateur homebaking to a wider audience. Now it’s time to showcase and celebrate the elite from the world of professional pastry in the UK."
