Salma Hayek’s movie dilemma

Salma Hayek is having trouble marketing her new movie.

The 48-year-old actress had adapted Kahlil Gibran’s ‘The Prophet’ – a book of 26 prose poetry essays dealing with subjects including love, marriage, children, passion, pain and religion – for the big screen but admitted that figuring out how to sell it to audiences is an issue because of the subject matter.

Salma told the New York Daily News: "I’m having a really hard time marketing the film because there is no system to market uplifting spiritual films."

However, the actress believes it is important that movies like this are made and revealed how her seven-year-old daughter Valentina – whose father is French billionaire Francois-Henri Pinault – reacted to seeing it.

She explained: "This is exactly the kind of thing we need to expose children to, a film that talks about finding your own voice, a film that talks about not jumping into judgment, a film that talks about tolerance.

"When Valentina saw the film she wrote the most beautiful poem about how we are spirits, nothing can incarcerate us and we are eternal and we don’t die. "We cried. Even the nanny was crying."
