Britain’s Prince of Wales hosted a garden party in Tetbury, England for The Prince’s Countryside Fund.
The Duke of Cornwall attended the event at Highgrove House on Friday (24.07.15) to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the charity, which has given over £6 million in grants to 135 projects benefiting 160,000 people living and working in rural communities, since 2010.
The Prince’s Countryside Fund Ambassadors, including TV gardener Alan Titchmarsh MBE, Journalist Ellie Harrison, Olympian Charlotte Kerwood and ‘This Morning’ chef Phil Vickery MBE were among guests at the event.
Talking on the day, according to Press Association, Prince Charles said he was "thrilled" of the work that has helped "start up or grow rural enterprises".
He said: "I am thrilled that as a result of the fund being set up we’ve managed to support over 2,500 rural enterprises to start up or grow; 5,000 farm businesses to improve their profitability; over 300 rural communities with the provision of community owned pubs, shops and other services; and my Pub is the Hub organisation trying to save all these rural pubs from disappearing – that’s another aspect of what the fund has been able to support …"
Prince Charles was greeted with a homemade cake with the words "Happy 5th Birthday" iced on it, designed and baked by Fiona Cairns, who also made the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge wedding cake.
