Stephanie Davis’ ‘Hollyoaks’ contract was terminated because she arrived on set "unfit to work".
The 22-year-old actress, who starred as Sinead O’Connor in the Channel 4 soap, left the show earlier this week after bosses decided she was incapable of performing her scenes.
A spokesperson for the actress explained: "Stephanie’s contract was terminated following warnings for lateness, attendance and after a final incident in which she turned up to set unfit to work because of alcohol consumption."
Stephanie had been warned about her bad behaviour by show bosses and the latest incident was seen as the final straw.
An insider told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "Stephanie was on her final warning and show bosses decided enough was enough.
"She was in trouble for excessive partying and boozing and bosses took a one-more-strike-and-you’re-out policy.
"Turning up for work drunk is unacceptable in any workplace so bosses were forced to take action. The atmosphere on set is sombre as the cast are sad she has gone and concerned about her."
Stephanie only signed a new contract with the show in April and at the time, she said she was delighted to have extended her association with ‘Hollyoaks’.
She said: "I’ve just signed a new contract and I’m really happy. I’ve been in the show since I was 16 and I’m 22 now. I’ve kind of grown up here, which has been mental."
