Claire Sweeney: Becoming a mother ‘completely changed’ my life

Claire Sweeney says becoming a mother has "completely changed" her life.

The 44-year-old star welcomed her first child, son Jaxon, with ex-boyfriend Daniel Reilly 10 months ago and admits her priorities have changed completely since his arrival.

She said: "He’s one in September … It’s gone so fast! But I’m loving it, it’s completely changed my life. It’s like my life was so vacuous before, it’s just brilliant … He stood up for the first time this weekend!"

The former ‘Brookside’ actress split from Jaxon’s father while she was pregnant and although they rekindled their relationship after he was born they called time on their relationship for good in January.

And Claire now has to rely on friends and family to help look after the tot while she’s busy starring in the theatre production of ‘Hairspray’ but insists she gets to spend more time with him than most working mothers would.

She told ITV’s ‘Lorraine: "It’s not easy [touring with a little one], but the benefit is that if I was working in an office I’d be leaving him at 8 or 9 o’clock in the morning, and not seeing him until six, so at least he can come with me everywhere.

"The only time I’ll need someone to keep an eye on him is between seven and nine thirty at night and he’s going down to bed then so I’ll have a friend with me or he’ll be with my mum."
