Britain’s Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are upgrading their home tennis court.
The royal couple – who played tennis opposite each other early in their courtship as classmates at the University of St Andrews – plan to upgrade the court at their country home, Anmer Hall to be made of AstroTurf and bordered by copper beach hedge.
According to an application filed by officials at Sandringham Estate, where their home is located, the court will also have new oak trees planted nearby.
The court will also have to be moved to an area of "undeveloped garden", according to People.com, as the existing court – which was to the left of the house – needs to be completely resurfaced, and a landscape designer has advised William and Kate to move it to an area that will provide more space around the court, and in doing so improve the views from the main house.
As keen tennis fans, William and Kate will also be making an appearance at Wimbledon on Wednesday (08.07.15) to watch some of the day’s quarter-final matches on Centre Court, Kensington Palace has confirmed.
Last year the royal couple caused a stire when they were seen watching Roger Federer take on Novak Djokovic in the men’s singles final.
