Princess Charlene hosted Corsica water safety event

Princess Charlene of Monaco hosted a water safety event for children in Ponte Vecchio, Corsica on Monday (29.06.15).

The 37-year-old princess – who represented her native South Africa at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney – was joined by her husband Prince Albert II as she donned a wetsuit and chatted with children taking part in the workshops on Palombaggia Beach.

The event – which was organised by the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation and the CEFSSA 40 – aimed to help teach youngsters the basics of water and sea-swimming safety, including learning basic first aid and awareness of their marine environment.

The royal – whose twins Gabriella Thérèse Marie and Jacques Honoré Rainier were baptised on May 11 – was seen wading into the Mediterranean Sea with her students and later hugging them and her husband Prince Albert on the beach.

Princess Charlene was teaching workshops alongside four-time free diving record holder, Pierre Frolla, and paddle board world champion Stéphanie Barneix.

The visit to Corsica comes ahead of the 10th anniversary of Albert’s coronation, which took place on July 12, 2005, and, in an interview with Monaco-Matin, he insisted that he and his wife are in a good place.

Prince Albert said: "[The split rumors] are all the more lamentable because everything goes wonderfully well between Charlene and me. As you saw most recently, I was in Corsica with her and I don’t think we give the impression of a couple who are torn apart."
