Jason Derulo has ‘outgrown’ singing name

Jason Derulo has "outgrown" singing his own name.

The 25-year-old singer became known for warbling his moniker at the beginning of his songs at the start of his musical career, but explained why he no longer makes the tuneful remark.

He said: "I’ve outgrown it. It was a time in my life, and it was cool while it lasted, but it’s not my thing."

However, the hunk – who recently released his new studio album ‘Everything is 4’ – revealed ‘All About That Bass’ singer Meghan Trainor begged him to let her sing his name while recording their collaboration, ‘Painkiller’.

He continued: "I didn’t give her the control, she insisted! She was like, ‘Please, please, please, please, let me do it!’ And I was like, ‘Nah! I’m done with that!’ She said, ‘But it’s me singing it, not you!’ I was like, ‘All right, cool, but I’ve got to sing your name.’ She said, ‘Good, of course!’"

The ‘Wiggle’ hitmaker added he decided to name his new record ‘Everything is 4’ because he was "inspired" by tables and chairs, which all have four legs.

He told TIME magazine: "The number four is a number that follows us around. A few of those things kind of inspired me, like, four legs on a chair, four legs on a table. It represents a strong foundation. Four seasons represents change and being able to accept change, which is very relevant in my life right now."
