Jay Z and Beyonce heat up London’s The O2

Jay Z joined Beyonce onstage at her London gigs this weekend.

The 32-year-old singer and her spouse enthralled crowds with their latest collaboration, ‘Drunk in Love’, on both Friday (28.02.14) and Saturday night (01.03.14) as the pop icon kicked off the first of six ‘Mrs. Carter Show World Tour 2014’ concerts at London’s The O2 arena.

The surprise appearance from Jay, 44, was just the icing on the cake for Beyonce, who clearly revelled in the opportunity to perform new material for fans for the first time on her revamped world tour.

The singer interspersed old favourites such as ‘Crazy in Love’ and ‘Single Ladies’ with tracks from her fifth studio album, ‘BEYONCE’, which she released with no forewarning in December.

Beyonce’s set list included new songs ‘XO’, ‘***Flawless’, the raunchy ‘Partition’ and ‘Blow’.

The energetic set also saw her dust off classic songs from her back catalogue – including ‘Baby Boy’, ‘Naughty Girl’ and ‘Run the World (Girls)’ – which she performed with vigour with help from her all-female band and backing dancers, as well as the talented Les Twins – the only male dancers on her tour.

As has become her signature, Beyonce ended her concert with the uplifting ‘Halo’ and a cover of ‘I Will Always Love You’. However, the final act also included the poignant new ballad ‘Heaven’, in which the star sings of the death of a loved one.

‘The Mrs. Carter Show World Tour 2014’ will continue to travel across Europe through March.
