Prince William ‘signing up’ to play bass guitar for reggae band

The Duke of Cambridge could be playing bass guitar for Aswad.

The 32-year-old Prince revealed he can play the bass while presenting Brinsley Forde, the frontman of the 80s reggae group with an MBE at Windsor Castle yesterday (19.05.15), and the 61-year-old singer has said he’s "thinking of signing him up".

After meeting Prince William, Brinsley said: "I’ve just got a new bass player – you might know him as the Duke of Cambridge. He said ‘I’m a bit good on the bass guitar’ so I’m thinking of signing him up, but he’s got such a lot of other duties I don’t know whether he’ll have time to do it."

William, who spent yesterday at a wildlife conference in Switzerland, isn’t the only member of the Royal Family to boast a talent for music, as his father Prince Charles is famously good at playing the cello, while his cousin Princess Beatrice has been known to try her hand at the piano.

Brinsley, who began his career as a child actor, also spoke to the Duke about his new daughter Princess Charlotte and revealed that he too is about to become a grandfather.

Speaking to People magazine, the ‘Shine’ hitmaker said: "I congratulated him on the birth of Charlotte and said my son is waiting for the birth of his child so I’m about to be a grandfather."
