Steve Irwin’s father was "sad and angered" when his close friend shared his last words.
Bob Irwin has confessed he was devastated when his late son’s pal and former cameraman broke the pact not to speak about the wildlife presenter’s death, after he was stabbed by a stingray while filming a documentary on Australia’s Great Barrier Reef in 2006.
Justin Lyons shared Steve’s final words, ‘I am dying’, with the world on an Australian TV show last year leaving his family feeling extremely hurt.
Appearing in a TV special about his son for ‘Australian Story’ Bob said: "I personally felt very sad and, to a degree, angry about what Justin had to say.
"For a lot of people trying to get on with their lives without Steve, it wasn’t something that helped by any means."
Justin shared vivid details about the ‘Crocodile Hunter’ star’s passing when he spoke on Network Ten’s ‘Studio 10’ last March.
He said: "All of a sudden [the stingray] propped on its front and started stabbing wildly with its tail, hundreds of strikes in a few seconds.
"It wasn’t until I panned the camera back and saw that Steve was standing in a huge pool of blood that I realised something had gone wrong."
