Noel Gallagher working on seismic new album

Noel Gallagher has written more than 50 songs for a "seismic" new album.

The ‘Everybody’s on the Run’ singer is "whittling down" the tracks for his second solo LP and long-time collaborator, Mark Coyle, claims the new material reminds him "in some respects of the spirit" of Oasis’s 1994 debut record, ‘Definitely Maybe’.

He told NME magazine: "That boy is from a different planet, and even the fans won’t believe how utterly amazing [the album] is. It’s pouring out of him [right now]."

Noel, 46, released his solo debut ‘Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds’ in 2011, which went to number one, after Oasis split in 2009, following a huge backstage argument in Paris, France with brother and band mate, Liam, 41, who went on to form his band, Beady Eye.

Mark, a sound engineer who co-produced Oasis’s first album, reportedly heard a host of Noel’s demos last month, following his recording sessions in New York, and described the new songs as "f***ing great".

He said:"The new record … is so explosive that, on the day it comes out, Virgin Trains won’t be able to cope with all the people trying to flee the chaos."

Meanwhile, Oasis sent the internet into meltdown yesterday (26.02.14) after they announced they will re-release their debut album, with added unheard tracks, to mark the record’s 20th anniversary.

Noel said in a statement: "If anyone produced [those sessions], it was [Mark]. He put out the mics and was twiddling the knobs."

The original line-up of Oasis that recorded the album was made up of singer Liam, guitarist and songwriter Noel, rhythm guitarist Bonehead, bassist Paul ‘Guigsy’ McGuigan and drummer Tony McCarroll.

The re-mastered ‘Definitely Maybe’ is out on May 19.
