Years and Years finish LP

Years & Years have completed their debut album.

The pop trio – featuring Olly Alexander, Mikey Goldsworthy and Emre Turkmen – revealed they finally finished the collection, titled ‘Communion’, on Saturday (09.05.15) and celebrated by getting drunk.

They confessed: "We literally just finished it on Saturday night, did the last song a bit drunk. Our producer sent me out with his debit card to get a couple of bottles of champagne."

The ‘King’ hitmakers – who are the latest act to be tipped by Vevo as their current LIFT artist – admitted they’re now feeling relieved at having completed the collection, because they have spent so long crafting it.

When asked how they feel about finishing the LP, they continued: "It’s not really sunk in yet, I feel relief more than anything. There’s nothing I can do anymore.

"We’re all quite excited that it’s done, we’re really happy with it."

And 24-year-old frontman Olly explained the title to their album – which will be released on 10 July – was inspired by religion, despite the fact they don’t follow a faith.

Speaking on BBC Radio 1 as they premiered their new single, ‘Shine’, he explained: "When I looked at all the song titles together, they all sounded a little bit religious to me. I’m not religious, the songs have nothing to do with religion, but the songs are all about relationships, or about two people, so ‘Communion’ is a bit of a play on words."
