Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May have held a secret meeting about joining ITV.
The presenting trio – who recently left ‘Top Gear’, following Jeremy Clarkson’s sacking – reportedly staged a secret rendezvous at the home of channel director Peter Fincham on Wednesday evening (06.05.15).
The meeting was also attended by ‘Top Gear’ executive producer and Clarkson’s long-time friend Andy Wilman, as well as ITV entertainment boss Elaine Bedell, a former colleague of the controversial presenter, who was sacked in March after attacking ‘Top Gear’ producer Oisin Tymon.
Shortly after Clarkson’s sacking, a number of British broadcasters – including Sky, ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5 -distanced themselves from claims he was set to join their network.
A TV source said: "He doesn’t seem to have many UK broadcasting options."
However, Ben Collins – who spent eight years on ‘Top Gear’ as The Stig, the show’s in-house racing driver – claimed Clarkson could easily make a transition into TV in America.
He said: "America is an obvious move for him – there are many networks who would love to have him on board.
"They love their cars, they love Top Gear and they love Brits like Jeremy."
