Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla visit royal baby

Britain’s Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall have visited the one-day-old Princess of Cambridge.

The 66-year-old Prince of Wales arrived at Kensington Palace at lunch time along with his wife Camilla to meet his first granddaughter, who was born at St Mary’s Hospital in London on Saturday morning (02.05.15).

The Prince – who said he was "absolutely delighted" about the news of the child’s birth – revealed last week he was keen for the royal baby to be a girl, and looked pleased as he entered the palace to see the child, which is the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s second child after 21-month-old Prince George.

The couple arrived less than an hour after the maternal grandparents Michael and Carole Middleton, and aunt Pippa, just a day after the as-yet-unnamed was shown to the world when William and Catherine left the Lindo Wing of the hospital.

Prince William, 32, told the press yesterday he was "very happy" about becoming a father to the baby princess, who is fourth in line to the throne after Princes Charles, William, and elder brother George.

Queen Elizabeth is yet to meet the new arrival due to royal engagements, but heard well wishes this morning as she attended a church service in Norfolk, on the same estate as the family’s country retreat, Anmer Hall.

While the name of the child has not yet been announced, bookmakers say Charlotte, Alice and Olivia are the favourites for the princess, who is the first girl to be born into the British monarchy for 25 years.
