Emilia Clarke credits Game of Thrones for Terminator role

Emilia Clarke thinks her role in ‘Game of Thrones’ secured her the part of Sarah Connor in the new ‘Terminator’ movie.

The 28-year-old actress, who stars as Daenerys Targaryen in the popular TV show, was cast opposite Arnold Schwarzenegger in ‘Genisys’ – the fifth Terminator movie – and thinks her inclusion in the film is largely because of her starring role in ‘Game of Thrones’.

Emilia shared: "I had looked to Linda Hamilton’s Sarah Connor as an inspiration for Daenerys when I first started doing Game of Thrones."

However, Emilia confessed there aren’t too many similarities between her on-screen characters and her real-life self.

She told The Sun newspaper: "By nature I am not the most aggressive person. I wouldn’t go looking for a fight, I would much rather defuse it with humour.

"I think I’m a happy medium between Daenerys and Sarah Connor – I’d like to think I have elements of both but I don’t have dragons and I don’t have a Terminator daddy, so there are not too many similarities between us."

Emilia also revealed just how much she enjoyed working alongside her latest co-star Arnold Schwarzenegger.

She said: "He is in himself an icon, let alone being a Terminator on top of that.

"I first met him at the opening read-through and I felt the tension in the room of just waiting for the Terminator to arrive.

"He just defused the tension instantly with his charm and ease and comedy. It was just such an ease to work with him.

"After the read-through we were all, ‘We’ve heard it now, we’ve felt the tingles for the first time.’"
