Jermain Jackmain: Stevie McCrorie shouldn’t give up day job

Jermain Jackman thinks it’s "amazing" Stevie McCrorie wants to keep his day job.

The 20-year-old singer – who was crowned king of ‘The Voice’ last year – has offered words of advice to this year’s winner and admitted he is fully behind his decision not to give up his position as a fireman.

Speaking at the launch of the New Look Wireless Festival at London’s Mondrian hotel, he exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "He is an amazing vocalist and I wish him the best of luck. I know what he is going through, the ups and downs and the rollercoaster. I would just say for him to stay focused, know what you want from it and enjoy the ride.

"The following Saturday I won, I had to return back to working in a library. I didn’t think I’d win and I thought it would be rude if I handed in my resignation. People think that once you’ve been on The Voice that’s it, you’ve made it. You need to stay humble and realise it comes with a lot of hard work, so being able to have that foundation of still having his fireman job that is brilliant."

Following his victory on the ITV show last year, Jermain has finally finished making his debut album and described the past 12 months as "amazing" after it was announced he was to perform at Wireless festival in summer.

He said: "Things have been going really well. It’s been a year and it has been an amazing year being able to write my album, being able to release my album and to be performing at Wireless and to be performing on the same day as Drake."
