Jeremy Clarkson’s face will be blurred and his name bleeped out when he returns to the BBC.
The former ‘Top Gear’ presenter features in the new series of comedy ‘W1A’, a fictional story which satirises life at the BBC, next month and writer John Morton has revealed he decided it would be best to pixelate his face and bleep out his name after he was sacked from the motoring show last month for attacking a producer.
John said: "We weren’t asked to make changes by the BBC. We just thought it would be a smart thing to quietly acknowledge we are aware of what’s happened."
The comedy sees an intern asked to view four years worth of ‘Top Gear’ episodes and count how many times the controversial presenter says "t**ser" and John admits he thought it would be funny to subtly mention Clarkson’s sacking in the show.
He added to Radio Times magazine: "I wrote this episode back in July or August last year. The only thing we did when editing was to add one voiceover and bleep Clarkson, but not Jeremy, ridiculously, and clumsily pixellate his face. We hopefully made a couple of little jokes out of it.
"The Clarkson thing is quite a minor strand. It was written six or seven months ago and all we did was a little tweak to acknowledge things that happened in the real world."
A line is also added to the program, when narrator, David Tennant says: "Since the making of this documentary, certain events have happened as a result of which for technical reasons means we are unable to mention certain individuals by name".
