Amy Adams praises Philip Seymour Hoffman

Amy Adams has paid tribute to "beautiful spirit" Philip Seymour Hoffman.

The 39-year-old actress was interviewed just days after her ‘Doubt’ co-star passed away from an apparent drugs overdose earlier this month, and couldn’t keep her emotions in check.

Asked about Philip on an episode of ‘Inside the Actors Studio’ – which aired in the US last night (19.02.14) – she tearfully said: "Gosh, I wish you could all get a chance to work with him. He was beautiful, a beautiful spirit. And he has this unique ability to see people, really see them."

Amy says she will "miss" the actor – who had children Cooper, 10, Tallulah, seven, and five-year-old Willa with estranged partner Mimi O’Donnell – and finds it tough to talk about him.

She added: "And he will be missed. Sorry, I really …I just really loved him and I know so many people did, and I just don’t know how much more I can talk about it now. Sorry."

‘The Hunger Games’ actor reportedly fell off the wagon in 2012 after being sober for more than 20 years and he entered rehab in May 2013.

Philip was allegedly found with around 70 bags of heroin inside his apartment after Mimi, who had recently kicked him out of their home in an act of "tough love," sent his friend David Bar Katz over to check on him when he failed to show up to spend time with their children.

Some 400 mourners, including Cate Blanchett, Julianne Moore and Diane Keaton, attended Philip’s private funeral at St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church in Manhattan earlier this month.
