Britain’s Queen Elizabeth will lead the Victory in Europe Day celebrations.
The 88-year-old monarch will star in the three day event to mark the 70th anniversary of the fall of Hitler’s troops at the hands of the Allied Forces during the Second World war.
Between May 8 and 10, beacons will be lit across the country from Newcastle to Cornwall , WWII Lancaster bombers and Spitfires will fly through the skies and a 1940s themed concert will be held at Horse Guards Parade in London to commemorate the victory on May 8 1945.
A national two minute silence will also take place at 3pm on May 8 to mark the moment Winston Churchill formally declared the conflict was over, reports MailOnline.
The final service will take place at Westminster Abbey where the queen will be joined by other members of the royal family to end the three-day celebration.
Around 2,000 war veterans and current members of the armed forces will also join them in a parade from the Abbey to St James Park where they will attend a reception hosted by the Royal British Legion.
