Britain’s Prince Edward met students in Surrey, South West England, during a tour to see various youth activities.
The 51-year-old royal met pupils from schools in Ewell, Epsom and Leatherhead after being invited by Surrey County Council chairman David Munro to see projects funded and supported by Surrey Youth Support Services (YSS).
Edward went to High Ashurst Outdoor Education Centre in Mickleham last week and was presented with work and activities from groups all over the county.
The prince – who is married to Sophie, Countess of Wessex – saw the work the young people are doing to prepare themselves for employment through an arts and crafts project run by senior Surrey YSS officer Sue Raftery.
According to website TheLocalGuardian.co.uk, Edward also watched a demonstration by students from the Glyn School in Ewell and Therfield School in Leatherhead which showcased teamwork and skills gained on a youth engagement scheme course run by Surrey Fire and Rescue.
Before he concluded his visit, Edward was presented with a wooden birdbox which had been made by young offenders on a restorative intervention programme, the Surrey YSS carpentry project, which teaches wood-work skills.
