Dermot O’Leary is worried he’s going to be axed from ‘The X Factor’.
The 41-year-old star has presented the ITV singing competition for the last ten years but admits he’s concerned the show’s boss, Simon Cowell, is lining someone else up for the job as they’ve yet to have a meeting to discuss contracts for the next series.
He shared: "We normally sit down February/March but Simon wants to change stuff. So I need to see what changes he is going to make before a) I know if he wants me and b) whether I’m suitable for those changes."
Dermot also confessed that although he loves working on one of the biggest shows on British television, he won’t continue as host if he’s not comfortable with what he’s asked to do.
He told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "If he [Simon] turns around and says, ‘Half your gig is a voiceover’, then I will have to think about it. If he lets me do my thing then of course I would do it."
The former ‘Big Brother’s Little Brother’ presenter – who is married to TV producer Dee Koppang – is currently dancing non-stop for 24 hours to raise money for Comic Relief but admits while Simon’s "supportive" of his endeavour, he wasn’t keen on getting involved.
Dermot added: "I asked Simon if he could help out but he said, ‘Then I’d have to dance’. But he has been very supportive."
