‘Coronation Street’ has announced a special book to celebrate the soap’s 60th anniversary.
The iconic ITV show – which first aired in December 1960 – is marking the impressive milestone later this year, and a brand new companion book has been confirmed as part of the festivities.
’60 Years of Coronation Street’ is available now to preorder in hardback, and the title will be officially released on October 29.
The book’s listing on Waterstones.com promises "an exhaustive, compelling and entertaining history packed full of features and long forgotten imagery".
The description continues: "It takes you through every year in a unique timeline that highlights key plot lines, significant production events, together with an impressive amount of photography.
"You’ll discover features on characters, famous actors, royal visits, births, deaths, marriages and murders, together with interviews with key actors, producers and production staff.
"There are even QR codes so not only can you read about iconic scenes, but you can view them as well."
As well as the interactive elements, there will also be a section dedicated to the late ‘Corrie’ creator Tony Warren.
The book will detail how the soap evolved from page to screen", featuring "rare imagery and artefacts from his own archive".
Furthermore, there will also be gatefold pages to reveal how the legendary set has changed over the past 60 years, as well as family trees to keep track of the Barlow and Platt clans, including the likes of Deirdre (Anne Kirkbride) and Ken (Bill Roache).
‘Corrie’ is currently airing on a reduced schedule of three episodes a week rather than the usual six after production was shut down by the coronavirus outbreak.
