Sandi Toksvig chooses Danish week for Great British Bake Off

‘Great British Bake Off’ is to have a Danish week in honour of Sandi Toksvig.
The 60-year-old presenter – who was born in Copenhagen but grew up in New York City – and her co-host Noel Fielding were asked to select themes for this year’s contest, and while the ‘Mighty Boosh’ star suggested introducing the programme’s first ever vegan week, the ‘QI’ anchor asked producers to pay tribute to her home country.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s TV Biz column: "Producers wanted to give Sandi and Noel a bit more input this year and decided to give them some control over the format of the show.
"The filming for Danish week was a lot of fun and Sandi had to do all she could to stop herself from helping the contestants with some of her top tips from back home.
"It makes for great telly and everyone on the show agrees that it gives the series a new lease of life."
Meanwhile, Sandi recently confirmed she and 45-year-old Noel – who took over as hosts when the show moved to Channel 4 last year – are paid the same for their work on the programme.
She said: "Noel and I have complete parity. We’re open and transparent about everything, which is the best way to avoid problems. This issue should have been dealt with long ago. I very much hope everyone will clean up their act. Sadly, I doubt it."
The baking competition made its controversial switch from BBC One to Channel 4 with the replacement of the beloved foodie Mary Berry, 83, who chose to "stay loyal to the BBC" and comical twosome, Sue Perkins, 48 and Mel Giedroyc, 50. Just Paul Hollywood opted to stay on as a judge.
