Prince Charles ‘shocked’ to hear of Mexico ‘devastation’

Prince Charles was "profoundly shocked" to hear of the recent earthquake "devastation" in Mexico.
The Prince of Wales has sent a message to the country’s president Enrique Peña Nieto from himself and wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, admitting they were "particularly sad" to learn of the deaths of so many youngsters following a number of recent natural disasters.
He said: "Having such fond and happy memories of our visit to Mexico three years ago, my wife and I were profoundly shocked to hear the dreadful news of the appalling devastation and loss of life that your country has suffered following the recent earthquakes. It was with particular sadness that we learnt of the death of so many young schoolchildren."
Charles and Camilla admitted their "heats go out" to all the families suffering after a trio of huge earthquakes, including an 8.1 magnitude quake, struck the nation earlier this month.
He added: "We share your grief and, I can only imagine, the horror of your entire country that this latest disaster should have struck on the thirty-second anniversary of the terrible 1985 Mexico earthquake in which almost 10,000 people perished.
"However inadequate this may seem, my wife and I just wanted you to know that our hearts go out to the families and friends of all those who lost their loved ones, were injured or have lost their homes in this devastating tragedy."
In November 2014, Charles and Camilla enjoyed a tour of Mexico and Colombia, which included taking part in the Day of the Dead celebrations in Real del Monte, Mexico.
