Kate Winslet can’t conform

Kate Winslet can’t conform.
The ‘Mountain Between Us’ actress insists she’s never cared about other people’s opinions and feels lucky to be in a position where she doesn’t have to try and fit in to society’s expectations.
She said: "I just can’t do the conforming thing at all in life.
"I am not the kind of person who lives by other people’s judgements and opinions. I dance to the beat of my own drum.
"It’s important for humanity and I am lucky that I can do that. There are many young women in the world who are so fragile emotionally and who don’t believe in themselves."
However, the 42-year-old star – who has children Mia, 16, and Joe, 13, from her marriages to Jim Threapleton and Sam Mendes respectively, and three-year-old Bear with husband Ned Rocknroll – admitted it can be difficult for young people to stay true to themselves these days because society is so judgemental.
She said: "I life, the most important thing is to be true to yourself.
"And it’s hard to do that, because we live in an incredibly judgemental world. Particularly in the world of celebrity, it’s unbelievably judgemental.
"It does actually make me sad.
"Wouldn’t it be nice if we could all be exactly as we really are and not have to think for two seconds about what we are saying or wearing or what we are doing? Just be free and ourselves."
Despite her fame, Kate and her family are still able to lead a low-key existence.
She said: "I think fame is either opt in or opt out.
"It helps that I don’t live in a big city any more. That’s made a huge difference because, quite frankly, I think the paparazzi are too lazy to drive out there."
